Roles and opportunities

We have lots of different volunteer opportunities at ELHAP:

Volunteering with Children and Young People

ELHAP is a magical adventure playground for children and young people with disabilities. Volunteers will help the playwork team to support our children and deliver adventure play. You need to be willing to have fun, be silly and get very messy or muddy!!

Volunteering on the Orchard Project

The ELHAP Orchard Project works with people with learning disabilities and autism over the age of 18. It is an incredible project, unlike any other in the country. The ELHAP Orchard Project delivers a programme of activities including drama, exploring nature, filmmaking, relaxation, gardening etc. Our focus is very much on adventure, nature and the arts. Come and join in with our magical project!

Fundraise for ELHAP

We need volunteers to help fundraise for ELHAP. From helping the ELHAP fundraiser to organise events, to being a steward at one of your events to shaking a tin for ELHAP, we urgently need everyone to help ELHAP raise much needed funds.

Gardening

ELHAP is set in a five acre woodland site. We desperately need volunteers to help us look after and develop our fruit trees, our poly tunnel (we grow vegetables), plant flowers, cut the grass, cut back weeds etc. There is something for everyone - all you need is an interest and passion for gardening!

Driving the ELHAP minibus

We need drivers who have a full driving licence with a D1 category. Drivers will use the ELHAP minibus to collect and drop off visiting local schools as well as transport our service users to and from activities.

Building and Maintenance

ELHAP needs help with building and maintenance, including the upkeep of the building, decorating, helping to build our play structures etc. You don't have to have experience, but you do need to be willing to get dirty, chop wood, dig holes, paint etc. Having said this, a bit of decorating, building experience will really useful for us.

Roy attended ELHAP as a child and then later as an adult. He was always very happy there and it was a vital part of our family support system and his enjoyment.

    ELHAP Bridge

ELHAP Bridge can offer short term placements to “bridge the gap” for some of the children and young people left without school, college or day service provision due to Coronavirus. It may be particularly suitable for children & young people who are not in education or training, whose school place may be at risk.
