My father, Clive Mears, passed away on 5 February 2022 and my brother, Roy, just over a year before Dad.

ELHAP has provided adventure play opportunities to disabled and disadvantaged children, young people and adults. My brother, Roy, who was born in 1966 and had severe learning difficulties, was probably one of the first young people to benefit from the services ELHAP has offered since it opened in 1976.

ELHAP was a significant source of enjoyment for Roy when we were growing up and also later in life when staff from ELHAP would take him swimming.

I didn’t realise the role ELHAP played in supporting Mum and Dad during our childhood until Roy passed away in December 2020 and Dad talked to me about the invaluable support they received from ELHAP too. ELHAP also run a siblings project so they provide services to the whole family.

Small, local charities like ELHAP are a lifeline for families like ours and I know Dad would be very grateful for any donations in his memory to enable ELHAP to continue their invaluable work.
