About the role

The ELHAP Community Gardener will work with children, young people and adults with disabilities as well as staff and volunteers to develop and deliver engaging fun and accessible vegetable, plant and flower growing projects. This will also include basic tree & shrub management as well as general gardening of our large outdoor site (mowing, strimming and pruning). The Community Gardener’s work will be based in ELHAP’s five and a half acre ancient orchard woodland.

About you

ELHAP work with young people who have disabilities and complex needs and young people experiencing difficult life experiences and so the gardening project will need to led by someone who can be creative about designing projects to engage people with diverse needs. This is not about creating perfect herbaceous borders! You will need to be adaptable, flexible and responsive to our children and young people and enjoy the process as much as the end result. You will need to be passionate about both plants and people to be ELHAP’s community Gardener.
