Hours: As and when required
Salary: £10.55 per hour
Contract: Casual (As and when required)

About the role

ELHAP has been running very successful playschemes for 40 years which we are continually developing. You’ll be supporting children and young people with disabilities in making free play choices at ELHAP, as well as meeting their everyday needs.

You’ll be a role model of good practice and it’ll be your job to make sure our children and young people are given the best possible support and care. You will be working directly on the playground and will actively participate in all aspects of the day-to-day playground work.
We need you to work over the summer holiday or you can work regularly in school holidays and fortnightly Saturdays throughout term-time.

About you

To get the most out of the role you will be motivated and creative with experience and knowledge in facilitating real adventure play choices and opportunities for disabled children and young people. You’ll also be up for getting messy and muddy! Naturally, you’ll need experience in supporting disabled children and young people and if this was in a play setting even better. You’ll be up to speed with equality and diversity, health and safety, and child protection. You must be 18 years or over (this is an OFSTED requirement).

About us

ELHAP is one of only eight adventure playgrounds for disabled children and young people. For 40 years we have provided fantastic play experiences to many thousands of disabled children from across East London and Essex. We are a unique and magical setting, unlike any other.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake a satisfactory DBS enhanced disclosure.

Closing date: 4.00pm on Friday 27th November 2020

ELHAP Charity Registration No: 1077508. ELHAP is an equal opportunities employer.

Please note that casual playworkers need significant experience of working with children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs. If you do not have significant experience you should first consider volunteering at ELHAP in order to gain the experience before applying for this post.
